THE WHAT? Walmart has announced significant cuts to its corporate workforce as well as a sweeping ‘back to the office’ mandate for remote workers. The US’ largest private employer is also asking workers in smaller offices to relocate to central hubs.
THE DETAILS According to a report published by the Wall Street Journal, the US retail behemoth will allow staff to work remotely on occasion, but will require all workers to be in the office for the majority of the time.
THE WHY? Walmart Chief People Officer, Donna Morris, told staff in a memo, per the Wall Street Journal, “We believe that being together, in person, makes us better.”
