THE WHAT? The Chemical Business Association (CBA) welcomes the launch of a public consultation by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs on UK REACH and the alternative transitional registration model.
THE DETAILS The consultation includes gathering stakeholders’ views on proposals to amend the current transitional model under UK REACH, particularly regarding registration submissions to the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).
The proposals aim to uphold existing human health and environmental protections, while reducing costs to businesses during the transition from EU REACH to UK REACH. It also hopes to explore protections against unnecessary animal testing.
THE WHY? Tim Doggett, Chemical Business Association’s CEO, explains, “From the outset, we highlighted the issues that UK REACH created; it was a huge barrier to trade, business and investment… We’re not there yet, but… at last there is something tangible to work on and we welcome this development.”

Dermal Fillers: Injectable substances used to add volume, smooth wrinkles, and enhance facial contours. Examples include hyaluronic acid fillers like Juvederm and Restylane.

Botulinum Toxin (Botox): Injectables that temporarily paralyze facial muscles to reduce the appearance of wrinkles caused by repetitive movements, such as frown lines and crow's feet.

Chemical Peels: Solutions applied to the skin to exfoliate and improve its texture. They can treat acne, pigmentation issues, and signs of aging.

Laser and Light Therapies: Devices that emit focused light or laser energy to treat various skin conditions, including acne, scars, and signs of aging.

Prescription Skincare Products: Formulations containing active ingredients like retinoids (vitamin A derivatives), hydroquinone, or prescription-strength antioxidants to address specific skin concerns under medical supervision.
